Book Review – Getting Things Done

It’s ironic that I wrote on the first page of a book called Getting Things Done that I will finish reading the book in 10 days, only to end up finishing it over a year later! So much for getting things done…

But now that I’ve read the book, I’m glad that I managed to get through to reading it, and regret putting it off for such a long time. This is by far the most effective productivity approach I’ve come across, with some really illuminating insights about productivity that changed my approach to getting things done, and “time management.” The author, David Allen, calls his approach “radical common sense” but it’s hardly a common approach in the field of productivity. Positive and Negative Role Models

Having a role model who represents the person we would like to be, whether in character, or appearance, or success, usually motivates us towards our goal. A role model represents our goal in human form, and by imitating what they did to get to where they are, we can usually experience some of the success that they have achieved. But what about the people we do not wish to be like? Should we ignore them, or can we make use of their example? (more…)
