Evaluating Ideas

We’re constantly bombarded with ideas. Every conversation we have, every TV program or movie we watch, every song we listen to, and every sentence you are reading is presenting you with ideas. But how do we decide which ideas to accept, and which to reject? This post will look at some of the ways to evaluate ideas. To demonstrate these evaluation methods, I’ll use the example of the world-renowned documentary: The Secret.

From Cradle to Grave

Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him and his family)

I find the saying quoted above very interesting, and deserves some time for reflection. It’s intended as a piece of advice, or an instruction. An instruction is information that changes (or guides) your behaviour, if you choose to act on it. And since you can decide whether to follow the instruction or not, instructions only apply where you are able to make a decision. (more…)
